Training & coaching qualifications for subject matter experts in financial services
Across the financial services sector, staff training is like painting the Forth Bridge – it never stops! The sheer volume and complexity of today’s financial instruments, products and services means that firms are increasingly looking outside the central training team to both develop and deliver relevant technical training and coaching to branch personnel.
A growing number of technical, or subject matter experts, skilled in the underlying products and services are being seconded to training roles. Relying on ad hoc trainers to train staff, particularly in a highly compliance-oriented environment, raises two vital questions.
First, how important are generic training skills – which many technical experts will not have – to the learning process? Second, what is the most cost-effective way to provide at least a minimum level of appropriate skills to this important group?
