TAP Skills programme
The TAP Learning System addresses the vital skills required by the three groups of people involved in developing and training others:
Learning & Development Professionals
For L&D professionals, TAP offers 11 certificates and diplomas spanning all aspects of their core roles. More than 15,000 have now achieved a TAP qualification, and many continue to expand their skills via the CPD courses available.

Line Managers
People-development skills
Supervisors and managers can play a vital role in developing the organisation’s people-potential. However, as the CIPD 2007 survey showed, they are not generally being given the relevant training.
Given that most employers are expecting their managers to use coaching in future, time will have to be found for training. Indeed, not to make the time to train managers in developing their people sends a damaging signal to all employees – it says that ‘we are not really that interested in developing our people, even if we say we are’. The TAP Learning System offers 2-day short-courses for line managers in aspects of training and development.
Employee engagement skills
The TAP Learning System also includes the unique Manager-of-CHOICE™ programme. This comprises two 2-day workshops and 12-14 hours of selfpaced, online learning. The programme is designed to convey essential knowledge, attitudes and skills to people-managers, enabling them to effectively address the six drivers of employee engagement.

Subject Matter Experts in a performance support role
Aside from career practitioners, however, responsibility for training and performance support activities is increasingly being decentralised to business units and carried out by Subject Matter Experts. Whilst it is often assumed that ‘they know the subject, they can train others’, this is often mistaken!
To be really effective, these facilitators need relevant training skills to complement their technical knowledge and skills. The TAP Learning System provides a range of intensive, externally certificated short-courses, all within a single, consistent framework. This unique approach enables individuals to acquire the skills they need on a timely basis, ie when they are needed for their current workplace tasks.
